Sound doesn’t exist without movement. Something vibrates, disturbs the space around it, and travels until it reaches something else. This season is about that space, the distance a voice, a rhythm, or a memory has to cross before it lands somewhere.
A voice crosses a room. A rhythm crosses a city. A story crosses generations. Soulful Christmas sends a tradition across a room full of strangers. Past, Present & Forward sends a memory across decades. Undying Love sends two traditions across a stage, colliding into something new. The Juneteenth Experience sends a story across a whole community, block by block.
In every case, something is transmitted, and someone is changed by receiving it.

Your stories, sung back to you.
The Nutcracker. A Christmas Carol. And now, in its fourth year, Soulful Christmas.
Each year, we gather real holiday stories from our community and weave them into a brand-new concert of gospel, soul, and R&B. No two years are the same, but the feeling is always home.
Two nights only. Bring the whole family.

A story you’ve heard before, sung like never before.
Love. Betrayal. Consequence. Nas told this story in one unforgettable track. Now composer Steve Wallace reimagines it as a one-act chamber opera, brought to life by acclaimed vocalists and a live chamber ensemble.
An original prologue and epilogue connect the opera to its hip-hop roots, expanding the world of the story through music, movement, and theatrical storytelling.

Freedom’s song, carried block by block.
Seven years strong. What started in 2021 as one sold-out night at the Miami Beach Bandshell has grown into a month-long celebration of freedom and one of South Florida’s most anticipated cultural traditions.
The festival kicks off on Florida’s Emancipation Day with the return of our block party in Pompano Beach, and builds through a month of performances, workshops, and community activations. It culminates in mainstage performances at the African-American Research Library & Cultural Center and the Miami Beach Bandshell.
